Results from the British Nationals 2008 The Fusion Wins 6 Awards A great weekend was had by all, and a BIG thank you must go to James Gordon and Nick Lester for organising the Fun Fly line this year. The emphasis was on fun, but it was a close competition; only being hampered by the weather on Monday (it was a bit blowy to say the least). This was the first time that the Fusion had been entered into competition, other than at club level, and we are pleased to announce that the Fusion came away with 6 awards.
Class 1 Climb & Glide - Gold Award Class 2 Climb & Glide - Gold Award Class 2 Touch & Go - Silver Award Class 2 Spins and Spots - Silver Award Class 2 Limbo - Silver Award Overall Class 2 - Silver Award
All this in its first year of entry into the Nationals. We are extremely pleased with its performance! To explain the competition in more detail, it is split into 2 classes: Class 1 The models must be over 2lbs in weight, and are practically unlimited on power options. Control surface mixing is allowed within this class. The model must take part in the following events: Climb & Glide Triple Thrash Limbo Touch & Go Class 2 This is a more restricted class. Again models must be above 2lbs in weight, but can only have engines sized up to 0.42 cu. in. or 500w electric setups. This class does not allow control surface mixing and only four basic functions (Aileron, Elevator, Rudder and Throttle). This opens up the competition to the club flier and makes the sport affordable and open to all. In this class you must complete the following events: Climb & Glide Spins and Spot Limbo Touch & Go
Evolution Models Award for Best Model Evolution Models were honoured to be asked to present a trophy for the best Fun Fly Model. This was voted for over the weekend by the competitors for the model that they thought was the best in whatever category they wanted, e.g. best covered, best looking, best flown, best presented etc.. We were pleased to present the Trophy to David Colley who received the most votes for his........wait for it..........Fusion!!! Although cries of 'fixed' :-) during the presentation were heard. We wish to congratulate David on winning the first Evolution Models Trophy. Finally, thanks again to James, Nick and the Fun Fly team for a brilliant weekend. See you there next year!
